Legislator Heike Hansel told Prensa Latina they would submit their proposal before the Latin America-EU Summit in May in Madrid, Spain, because Cuba has shown its capacity to help Haiti.

Maria Esther Fiffe, counsellor of the Cuban embassy in Germany, thanked the initiative and aserted that Cuba would also contribute proposals aimed at boosting cooperation in the interest of the Haitian people.
