Cuban First VP Receives Australian Foreign Minister PDF Print E-mail

HAVANA.- Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, Cuban First Vice-President, received this morning Australian Foreign Affairs Minister Stephen Smith, who is on an official visit to Cuba.

During the meeting, the Cuban VP highlighted the perspectives of spreading the relations between the two countries in different fields, and mentioned the climate of mutual respect in which these relations are developing nowadays.


In this regard, both officials exchanged on their countries' disposition to develop projects in several fields like science, culture, sports and trade, as well as topics of interest on the international agenda.

Meanwhile, Smith expressed his satisfaction for this visit, his first to Cuba, and stressed the importance his government gives to multilateralism in international relations. Also, he pointed out the opportunity it brings to the two countries the mutual cooperation and the exchange of opinions in the framework of international forums.

The Australian FM was accompanied by Katrina Cooper, Ambassador to Cuba;
Elizabeth Petrovic, Advisor to the Minister and John Woods, director for Latin America and Canada at the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

In the Cuban part were Bruno Rodriguez, Foreign Affairs Minister, and officials at his ministry.
