HAVANA, Cuba.-The social movements in Latin America and the Caribbean support Cuba, Venezuela and Paraguay against US intentions to dismount their revolutionary processes, said the general secretary of Nicaragua's National Workers Front (FNT) Gustavo Porras.
The social movements look at new ways to counteract the US attacks, Porras told reporters during the Meeting of Latin American Leftist Movements, inaugurated Monday in Managua, Nicaragua, according to Juventud Relded newspaper, which cited a report by Xinhua news agency.

The meeting is analyzing the new US strategies aimed at "dismounting" revolutionary processes in Latin American countries. The organizations will agree on a common position to fight and defeat US intentions to destroy the new processes that bring change and transformation to Latin America and the Caribbean.

This gathering is very important to express solidarity with Cuba, with the Cuban Five and to condemn coup perpetrators in Paraguay, said Porras and noted "we are going to support Commander Hugo Chavez during his electoral process in Venezuela, because they want to discredit him as presidential candidate, as it happens in Nicaragua."

The meeting is taking place at the National University in Managua with the participation of renowned intellectuals and leftist leaders.

Nicaraguans will mark the 33rd anniversary of the Sandinista Revolution on July 19.
