HAVANA, Cuba.-The First Secretary of the Cuban Young Communist League Liudmila Alamo said 2012 will be a year of tireless work, but also of great joy for the younger generations of Cubans.

In an exclusive interview with ACN, Alamo, who is also a member of the Cuban Communist Party's Central Committee (PCC) said 2011 has been a very intense year for the Cuban youth with an active participation in all fields of society.

She mentioned in particular the youth's support of the process of analysis of the Political, Econmic and Social draft guidelines and the celebration of the Fifth Congress of Pioneers (first to ninth graders)

For the Cuban children, teenagers and youngsters this year has been marked by the step-up of the fight for the return to the island of the five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters serving hard sentences in the U.S.: Gerardo Hernandez, Rene Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero and Fernando Gonzalez.

Alamo called the younger generations of Cubans to keep up the good work and maintain the same high spirits and continue contributing to the progress of the country.

In 2012, the organization will be celebrating its 50th anniversary.
