Havana.-Global solidarity with Cuba and the continuing process of updating the economic and social model in the country will increase in 2012, predicted Kenia Serrano, president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples(ICAP).
In 2012 many support groups that had traditionally been interested to know the reality of the nation and defend the Cuban struggles in the world will visit our country, the official said to Prensa Latina. A significant moment for the country will be the Conference of the Communist Party of Cuba to be held in January, an event all those supporting us all around the world will be interested in, Serrano added. Early in the new year, the South American Brigade will make their 19th visit, followed by other constant friends such as the Venceremos Brigade from the United States (US) and the Ernesto Che Guevara Brigade from Canada. Members of the Jose Marti Latin American and Caribbean brigades, made of different European countries, and the Juam Rius Rivera from Puerto Rico will also come to Cuba, she said. Serrano also considered that a very significant moment in 2012 will be the celebration of the VIII International Colloquium for the release of the Cuban Five anti-terrorist fighters held in the US since 1998 for monitoring the activities of terrorist groups planning violent actions against Cuba. The President of ICAP informed that for the coming year, the campaign for the cause of Gerardo Hernandez, Rene Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero, Ramon Labañino and Fernando Gonzalez will boost new actions to achieve greater impact in US public opinion. Next year Cuba will continue its solidarity struggles with fraternal peoples all over the world, and in that context our support to the Venezuelan people who are immersed in presidential elections will be very important, she remarked. |
