Port of Prince.- The fifth field hospital of the Cuban mission in Haiti is ready in Arcahaie locality on Sunday, as part of the aid given by Cuba to the Caribbean country after the earthquake.
The first patient, however, was assisted on Saturday, victim of a car accident in the surroundings of the medical center.
Cuban medical collaborators who were setting up the hospital, located about 15 miles northwest of Port of Prince, immediately stopped their work to assist Abdiaja Joseph, who suffered a serious injure in his right leg kneecap.
Though it is considered a field hospital, the health center is properly equipped to give an excellent medical assistance to the Haitian people, noted Prensa Latina.
Medical services include a surgery unit, an intensive therapy room, a lab, hospitalization and rehabilitation areas, among other specialities.
Twenty-six Cuban medical collaborators and Haitian doctors graduated in the Island work in the field hospital opened on Sunday.
Similar centres were set up in Leoganne, Jacmel, Carrefour and Croix des Bouquets, in order to complete the work of the Cuban doctors in three medical centers in Port of Prince: La Paz, La Renaissence and Ofatma.
